的 awards are in the form of scholarships for students of photographic art. 

的 Inaugural Competition featured more than 500 entries from 98 PCC students, with 46 students selected to exhibit their work in the Boone Fine Arts Gallery and compete 奖学金最高可达7000美元.

的 competition is open to high school students attending in the 帕萨迪纳市 Area 社区 大学区.  You must be a member of the senior class to apply.

Here's how you can enter the competition and qualify for scholarship funds:

  • 高中生 - speak with your counselor, 摄影 instructor, or yearbook/newspaper advisor 开始吧.  的 application will open in late Fall 2024 for the 2025 Competition.
      
  • Get familiar with the competiion guidelines and 类别.
  • Photo submissions may be by analog or digital camera, black and white or color, CMYK 300dpi.  All photos must fit within an 11 x 14 format (horizontal or vertical).
  • 的 student must take the photo and each student is allowed to enter only one photo 在一类中.  不允许集体作业.  不允许系列.
  • Students must also write a 100-word maximum statement on how the scholarship funds will help to further their 摄影 education.
  • All submitted photos become the property of the PCC foundation and the 威廉G. Ericson基金会. 的 foundations reserve the right to display the photos and publish the photos to promote and publicize the contest. 

In order to qualify you should meet the following criteria::
To enter the competition, you must be a senior student at a qualifying PACCD High 学校
(Participants may not be currently or previously working as a professional photographer.)

While it certainly is advantageous to have taken 摄影 课程 before entering the contest, you do not have to be a photo major at PCC or have taken specific 摄影 课程.  However - you do need to be interested in studying 摄影 at some point -这是获得奖学金的必要条件.
